OUR HISTORY

The Freedom Fighters Experience was the vision and creation of Joe Markiewicz. Prior to starting his business, he had aspirations of a professional baseball career. However, injuries in college spoiled that dream from coming true, so Joe finished his engineering degree, accepted a job offer from IBM in North Carolina and started his corporate career.

Joe continued playing semi-pro baseball in the Carolinas but hung up the spikes when he started his marketing business. The love of the game never left Joe and he dreamed of somehow returning to the game in some way.

The dream came true in 2001 when Joe rented the old Greer Stadium in Nashville, Tennessee prior to the start of a Markiewicz Team leadership. It was nothing more than a pick-up baseball game, but this was the start of the Freedom Fighters Baseball Tradition.

Over the years, the legend grew as 100’s and then 1000’s would come in from around the country to see the dream manifesting all over again. New uniforms, new players, new memories and new generations of fans have made the Freedom Fighter Experience more special.

This experience has expanded into 3 games at the latest venue for the Freedom Fighters. The Heroes, Champions, and Legends games are currently being played at the iconic RoughRiders Stadium (Riders Stadium) in Frisco, Texas. Our 25th annual experience was held on August 7, 2025.
